PRINT | EDITORIAL | PUBLISHING | APP

This quarterly newspaper project was developed to provide some much needed positive news from around the world and also served as a self-promotional piece for an agency that prides itself on positive environmental practices and cultural awareness. Content is aggregated from multiple resources and redesigned to meet today’s modern aesthetics. Digital versions of the publication are available as a progressive web app suitable for use on any device or operating system.

Paper matters

  • The paper used for this publication was sourced from responsibly managed forests and producers that have met a strict set of environmental and socially responsible standards. This paper is made by Stora Enso from renewable virgin fibre and is EU Ecolabel and FSC certified. All runoff tests and wasted paper is recycled.

  • This publication was digitally printed using toner made with 100% certified green energy and contained in fully recyclable containers. It is free from solvents and VOCs, it is odorless and it is food-approved. It is also de-inkable, meaning the newspaper can be completely recycled to create new newsprint.

  • Solar panels at the print warehouse generate over 100MWh of electricity per year producing enough power for all of their printing needs.

  • Minimal plastic wrap, strapping and packing tape used in the distribution process.

PWA

Always experimenting with ways to design and develop new things — the app was built using the Glide system (https://www.glideapps.com).

A progressive web application takes advantage of the latest technologies to combine the best of web and mobile apps. Think of it as a website built using web technologies but that acts and feels like an app.

No API maintenance is necessary with backwards-compatibility (all users will run the same version of your website’s code, unlike the version fragmentation of native apps) and the app will be easier to deploy and maintain.
